The purpose of this paper is to investigate the initial information related to the roles and competencies required for a project manager who managed IBS construction projects in the Malaysian construction industry. Â Semi-structured interviews were conducted with the project managers who have experience in managing an IBS construction project. The finding reveals unanimously agreed that the project managers who managed IBS construction projects have to undertake extra roles which required additional competency as compared to the generic construction projects. It is hoped that the findings from this research will assist the project managers in their career development.Â
