About the Journal

Focus and Scope

AjBeS is an international, multidisciplinary, open-access journal that adheres to the BOAI definition of open access: users have the right to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of its articles.

The journal is indexed in ScienceOpen. It publishes original, double-blind peer-reviewed research articles on human behaviour in relation to the natural environment, including natural catastrophes, landscaping and climate change, affecting Asian communities in Asian and non-Asian countries worldwide.

Accepted articles must achieve an equivalent minimum English-language score of 90% and a similarity index of no more than 15%, based on Grammarly.

Articles should contain approximately 4,500 words, excluding references, and follow the Journal Template. Submissions must include the completed Publishing Agreement. A non-refundable article processing and publication fee of USD 300 per article applies, including double-blind peer review.

Since 2019, AjBeS has been published three times annually. The journal is published by e-IPH Ltd., UK.

Peer Review Process

Papers undergo double-blind peer review within four weeks by Editorial Board members representing 17 countries. Papers are assessed against the following seven criteria:

  1. Topic
    Relevance, research background, and clarity of the aim and objectives.

  2. Literature Review
    Relationship to previous studies, issues identified in the literature, and up-to-date references published within the preceding five years.

  3. Methodology
    A clear and detailed description, justification of procedures, and acknowledgement of limitations.

  4. Findings
    Clear presentation and identification of relevant findings.

  5. Analysis and Discussion
    Discussion of findings in relation to theories, issues, objectives and the literature, including consideration of implications beyond the immediate research context.

  6. Conclusions and Recommendations
    Retrospective evaluation of the research and its contributions, recommendations for improving the situation, and identification of new directions for further research.

  7. Overall Quality
    Standard of English, clarity of illustrations, use of APA referencing, and a similarity index below 30%.

Publication Frequency

Since 2019, the journal has been published three times annually.

The double-blind peer-review process is the responsibility of AMER (Association of Malaysian Environment-Behaviour Researchers), ABRA (Association of Behavioural Researchers on Asians), and cE-Bs (Centre for Environment-Behaviour Studies), Faculty of Architecture, Planning & Surveying, Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia.
